I tried the revenue share route, the programs selling advertising credits. I thought it was a simple business that would be the next big thing, because you could make money without sponsoring. Unfortunately, the life span of these programs isn’t great. Neither is the reputation.
No names, but if you have been involved in these programs, you know of the sudden closures. You may have heard some stories where people deposited their life savings. A lot of people have been affected in a negative way by these programs. I decided months ago to discontinue my advertising of these programs. I just hope to break even and recover my deposited funds.
Even with the overall instability, I see an opportunity. People are buying advertising in these sites, so we have access to buyer leads.
My goal is to use sites with geotargeting, to place my offer in front of top tier traffic. You can easily go to Alexa.com and see the top countries for your revenue share (or any program). The site must offer geotargeting as an option. If this site fulfills this criteria, I may consider advertising there.
I do not expect a high opt-in rate, even with buyer leads. The mentality of these participants seems to be clicking ads to gain income, instead of looking for opportunities that are designed to be evergreen.
This may be an opportunity to find another advertising source. Just be sure to throw in a few dollars, don’t even consider depositing your life savings!
